The 12th Lujiazui Forum 2020 Opens Today

The year 2020 is of critical importance to Shanghai’s international financial initiative as by this year we aspire to turn Shanghai into “an international financial commensurate with China’s economic strengths and the international status of therenminbiRMB”.
The 12th Lujiazui Forum, themed on "Shanghai International Financial 2020: New Starting Point, New Mission, New Vision", openedthis morning (June 18) in Shanghai. Liu He, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council, sent a written message to the Forum. Li Qiang, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPCShanghai Municipal PartyCommittee, attended and addressed the opening ceremony and the first plenary session. Ong Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore, addressed the opening ceremony through video. Gong Zheng, Acting Mayor of Shanghai and Co-Chairperson of the Forum, presided over the opening ceremony. Yi Huiman, Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and Co-Chairperson of the Forum, Yi Gang, Governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC), Guo Shuqing, Secretary of the PartyCPCPBOCCommittee of the PBOCand Chairman of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC), and Pan Gongsheng, Deputy Governor of the PBOC and Head of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange (SAFE) delivered keynote speeches at the first plenary session.
The Forum features seven plenary sessions and one Night Chat by Huangpu River, covering 8 topics with an array of hot issues in the economic and financial fields, namely "Shanghai International Financial 2020: New Starting Point, New Mission, New Vision","Strengthening Financial Cooperation between Shanghai and Singapore",“Global Economic and Financial Landscape: Growth, Uncertainties, Openness and Cooperation","Night Chat by Huangpu River: One-Year Anniversary of the STAR Board","Further Opening up of Financial Markets and Global Asset Management Development","Outlook on RMB Internationalization","Empowering the Financial Sector for High Quality Development through Fintech Development" and “Judicial Environment for Finance and International Financial Development”. The Forum is expected to generate inspiring ideas for dealresolving withmajor global economic and financialissues and improving governance in theglobal economic and financial arenagovernance.
